Admission Requirements

 

For Master of Arts in Ministry and Master of Divinity Programs

Applicants must submit the following materials to the Director of Admissions to be considered for admission:

1      A completed online Application for Admission form;

2      Application fee of $50 (non-refundable);

3      Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or international equivalent from an approved college or university with at least a 2.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale);

4      Official transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended sent directly to UUC;

5      Two letters of recommendation; one of the two must be from a pastor who knows you;

6      A personal statement of at least 250 words describing the student’s motivations for further study at UUC;

7      Applicants whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL with a 530 minimum score (paper-based) or 197 (computer-based) or 71 (internet-based).

 

For Doctor of Ministry Program

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission to the Doctor of Ministry degree program:

1      Earned a three-year professional degree (M.Div., B.D., or equivalent);

2      Completed at least three years of satisfactory full-time service in the ministry. All applicants must be actively serving parishes or engaging in other forms of ministry at the time of admission to the degree program;

3      Achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale);

4      Present personal and professional qualifications essential to effective ministry;

5      Demonstrate the ability to write effectively and to produce a written doctoral project. Applicants must submit an evidence of academic writing proficiency—a 6-10 page ministry reflection paper;

6      Applicants whose first language is not English must submit a TOEFL with a 550 minimum score (paper-based) or 213 (computer-based) or 80 (internet-based).
